Qualifications and Skills:
- This position works hand in hand with the dentist to perform all procedures. We are a general dentistry office, performing fillings, crowns, extractions, implants, cleanings, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal communication, social perceptiveness, and emotional intelligence. This position requires someone who can listen to and understand others’ emotions and reactions while controlling their own emotions and reactions. You will be dealing with patients that are uncomfortable, anxious, nervous, and in pain. A good dental assistant can make any patient feel more comfortable in the chair.
- The applicant must be comfortable in stressful situations, able to think ahead, and able to handle bodily fluids (blood, saliva, etc.) without any problems.
- BLS
- “Radiograph certification.” This can be completed with on-the-job training.
- Multitasking.
- This job will require you to perform all dental assisting chairside functions as well as sterilization of instruments, ordering and stocking materials, cleaning rooms between patients, assisting hygienists with patients, and patient charting.
Experience/Education:
- Associate (preferred)
- Chairside assisting: 1 year (preferred)
- Dental assisting: 1 year (preferred)
- BLS certification (preferred)
Other helpful experience:
- Surgical assistant
- Veterinary assistant
